Please avoid using hard-coded platform names in multiple places. A shared list or map would make this easier to maintain and less error-prone if the names ever change.

Thanks for the PR @tejaswiverma121-byte ! The UI and hover effects look great, but the implementation is too complex for making icons clickable.
Here are the few things before being merged.
Please consider these simplifications:
- Remove
CustomEvent&platform-data.js: Instead of global window events and large constant files, use simple anchor links (href="#getting-started-platforms") or direct URLs. - Revert
Brand/index.js: This file is unrelated to the issue . - Fix scroll jump: Mixing
href="#"withscrollIntoView()causes jumpy scrolling. - Keep the lines of code as much needed.
|
@tejaswiverma121-byte The icons are now clickable, which is good. However, when a user clicks an icon and navigates to the corresponding section below, that section should be automatically selected and its information should be displayed. For example, if the user clicks the Docker icon, they should be taken to the Docker section with Docker already selected and its information visible. They shouldn’t have to click Docker again after navigating there. Please use the existing tabs/selection behavior and components for this. Don’t introduce anything extra or over-engineer the solution. Keep the change simple and aligned with the existing implementation. Screen.Recording.2026-10-03.193341.mp4 |

Hey @tejaswiverma121-byte, thanks for the updates! It looks like you're caught between conflicting feedback (keeping it simple vs. auto-selecting the tab).
A clean way to solve both is to just use URL hashes. No need for CustomEvent.
- Terminal Links: Set the links in
MesheryTerminalto point to the specific hash (e.g.,#docker,#kubernetes) instead of#getting-started-platforms. - Auto-select the tab: In
MesheryPlatforms, add a simpleuseEffectto read the hash and select the matching platform.
Something like this:
import { useEffect } from "react";
// Inside MesheryPlatforms component:
useEffect(() => {
const handleHashChange = () => {
const hash = window.location.hash.replace('#', '');
if (!hash) return;
const platformIndex = supported_platforms.findIndex(
(p) => p.name.toLowerCase() === hash.toLowerCase()
);
if (platformIndex !== -1) {
changeCurrentPlatformState(platformIndex);
}
};
handleHashChange(); // Run on mount
window.addEventListener('hashchange', handleHashChange);
return () => window.removeEventListener('hashchange', handleHashChange);
}, []);

Hello, I reviewed your PR. There’s quite a bit of over-engineering here that doesn’t seem necessary. Please try to keep the implementation as simple and minimal as possible. This can be fixed with much less code, and I was able to solve the same issue in around 28 lines of code.
Also, one requirement was missed:
“Add a link to the corresponding section/page for each SVG.”
When the user clicks an icon and reaches the section below, in Step 2, whenever they click Meshery Docs, they should be navigated to the corresponding guide page for that specific section. Currently, that navigation is not working.
Please add the appropriate guide-page links and make sure the Meshery Docs link navigates to the correct page.
I hope that makes sense.
|
@AnkitRewar11 i refactored the SVG illustration clickability feature to replace the previous over-engineered implementation with clean, minimal hash-based navigation. Terminal platform icons now link directly to lowercased platform identifiers (such as #docker, #kubernetes, and #kind), which the platforms component detects via a lightweight hashchange listener to automatically select the matching platform and display its installation commands. In addition, I fulfilled the missing requirement by adding platform-specific documentation URLs to each supported platform, dynamically directing the Meshery Docs link and Meshery logo to the selected platform's official guide page. Finally, I updated the KinD setup instructions to install from the public Meshery Helm repository, styled the logo list using theme-derived hover colors and accessible focus rings, and eliminated extraneous formatting changes across untouched files to keep the pull request focused, minimal, and easy to review. |

please keep the changes limited to these two files only:
No need to change any other files. Thanks! You’re going in the right direction, but some parts are being reformatted unnecessarily. I think this can be improved further by keeping the changes focused and minimal. |
